The Word on Implants
Although we all strive to take good care of our teeth, sometimes
as a result of injury or decay, we suffer tooth loss. If you are
not thrilled with the prospect of dentures or a removable bridge
(known as a partial), then we have an exciting alternative for
you to consider.
Implants
are one of the newest technologies in the dental field today.
For those of you who may not know, implants are permanent
artificial teeth that are "implanted" into the bone.
Implants allow patients a great freedom from the inconvenience
of traditional dentures and partials.
Patients who are tired of embarrassing denture slippage and
dislike restrictions may find
implants an appealing solution to tooth loss. The great news is
that most patients with these problems are excellent
candidates for implants!
The
procedure entails the implanting of permanent metal posts into
the bone with natural looking teeth locked into the posts. Along
with the dentist, you select the shape, color and even the
precise alignment of your new teeth. This technology allows for
a natural looking healthy smile. In fact, many patients have a
more attractive smile than ever before!
If you are
interested in learning more about this exciting technology and
how it can benefit you, call us at 836-0877 and set up a
consultation. If it is more convenient, we can give you more
information over the phone or you can drop in and see us
anytime.

Our patients will recognize Ann
Elliott as one of the many smiling faces in Dr. Calvert's
office. Since joining the practice as a dental assistant in
1993, Ann has been a valued member of the family.
In addition to her duties as
dental assistant, she is responsible for keeping the office
current on OSHA standards and ordering all of the office
dental supplies.
According to Ann, "I have
worked in the dental field for 25 years and have enjoyed it.
But, working with Dr. Calvert and the rest of the staff, I
feel as though I have found my second family. We get our work
done and have a lot of fun, all at the same time," Ann
said. She attributes the high level of patient satisfaction to
this family atmosphere.
Besides her work at the office,
Ann is dedicated to her family. Husband Boyce and daughters,
Deborah Ann Robertson and Cathy Lynn Jackson occupy much of
her time. However, her greatest joy is spending time with her
13-year-old granddaughter Ashley Marie.
In addition to her family, Ann
enjoys working in her flower garden and swimming. She even
likes to fish and read an occasional good book!
Ann is originally from Pensacola,
but has lived in Birmingham since she was two years old. A
graduate of Phillips High School, she and her husband have
lived in Center Point for 18 years.
It is easy to see how the office
has such a family atmosphere, like Ann, the entire staff is
friendly, and most have been here for many years. We are all
proud to have Ann as a member of our team.

For the third year in a row, our office has
received a first place award in the annual Keep Birmingham
Beautiful Awards Competition. We were first awarded this honor
in 1996 and have earned a spot on the Commission's Honor Roll
for our continued effort in keeping the community beautiful.

T wo years ago I decided to join
practices with Dr. Calvert. I chose him because he and his staff
practice the same high level of dentistry, which I strive to provide for
my patients. After working in the office for two years, I am even more
convinced that the practice provides the best dental care in the area.
September 30th will be my last day in
this office, but I am confident that Dr. Calvert and his staff will
continue serving your needs. I have enjoyed seeing all of you and wish
you all the best in the future.
Sincerely,
James Melton, Jr., DMD
